The primary goal of this COST Action is to establish an interdisciplinary and international network of researchers focused on men in care. The network aims to gather, evaluate, and integrate existing knowledge to facilitate future interdisciplinary and cross-cultural research. Additionally, the Action seeks to inform policy-making in a European context and promote collaboration among researchers from various disciplines.
Key components of this Action include:
- Network establishment: The Action plans to create an efficient, diverse, and lasting network by actively recruiting young researchers and male academics, policy makers and industrial employers to ensure sustainability. Efforts will be made to involve academics from underrepresented countries and leverage synergies with other national and European initiatives.
- Sustainability and cooperation: The core network will be robust and efforts will be made to foster cooperation beyond the project duration. Visibility of participants from underrepresented countries will be enhanced to ensure equal consideration for leadership roles.
- Knowledge integration: The Action will focus on integrating existing knowledge on men in care from disciplines such as psychology, law, sociology, economics, and health sciences. The emphasis is on collaboration and networking to advance scientific understanding and inform policy-making.
- Future research facilitation: While the Action does not involve original research, it aims to provide opportunities for researchers to collaborate, disseminate new knowledge through joint publications and workshops, and establish a strong network for future research projects.
Overall, the COST Action on Men in Care seeks to bridge gaps in research, promote collaboration across disciplines and countries, and contribute to policy development in the field of care work involving men.
