The SisAl Pilot Project has so far carried out 9 pilot experiments at Fundiciones Rey in Galicia (Spain). Fundiciones Rey is testing the variables of the novel SisAl approach to find an optimal process. In March, the tests in Cuntis facilities were supervised by Mårten Görnerup, on behalf of Norges teknisk-naturvitenskapelige universitet (NTNU), Javier Bullon Camarasa from SILBUCAM S.L, and Professor María Dolores Gómez Pedreira and the researcher Branca García Correa from CITMAga.
The test results are promising and the project partners are excited about achieving their challenging goals. The project aims to demonstrate a patented novel industrial process to produce silicon enabling a shift from today’s carbothermic Submerged Arc Furnace (SAF) process to a far more environmentally and economically sustainable alternative.
Stay tuned to the project social media channels for more promising bits of information, like the lasts tests implemented at Fundiciones premises.
