The RE-WITCH consortium is working to revolutionize industrial cooling by harnessing waste and renewable heat. During the 2nd General Assembly, held on 25–26 February 2025 in Genova, Italy, partners gathered to discuss progress and next steps in demonstrating sorption cooling technologies in key industries across Spain, Poland, Germany, and Greece.

Over the next four years, RE-WITCH will integrate adsorption and absorption chillers, solar thermal collectors, heat pumps, and thermal storage into energy-intensive industries, proving their technical feasibility and economic viability. Sectors such as meat & dairy, pharmaceuticals, beverages, and petrochemicals will serve as pilot cases, with replication in pulp & paper, data centers, agrifood, and wood processing.

At the General Assembly, Luigi Ranza from CiaoTech – Gruppo PNO led an Exploitation Workshop, highlighting the importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) management. He introduced the BFMULO approach, which will guide partners in defining their roles and addressing IPR implications in the coming months.

Discover here how RE-WITCH is unlocking the potential of low-grade waste heat to deliver sustainable cooling solutions for the future!
