Apart the exotic name, this new European project stands out through its objective. During the next 4 years, RHINOCEROS will develop and improve economically and environmentally viable routes for re-using and recycling end-of-life electric vehicles and stationary energy storage lithium-ion batteries.
In the framework of the project, the consortium these innovative recycling solutions will be tested and demonstrated in an industrially relevant environment. The project has great potential to decrease Europe’s dependency on critical raw material imports (Li, Co, graphite) by demonstrating a recycling route from local EU resources.
