The European Commission has published the 2024 calls for the Innovation Fund, aiming to promote net-zero emission technologies, the production of battery cells for electric vehicles, and renewable hydrogen.
With a total budget of €4,600,000,000, the two calls underscore the EU's commitment to strengthening European leadership and production capacity in innovative net-zero technologies, striving for climate neutrality by 2050.

- General Call for Net-Zero Emission Technologies (IF24 Call)
With a budget of €2,400,000,000, this call supports decarbonization projects of small, medium, and large scale, as well as initiatives focused on producing renewable energy components, energy storage systems, heat pumps, and hydrogen production.
Furthermore, for the first time under the Innovation Fund call for proposals, Member States will have the possibility to complement the Net-Zero IF 24 Call with national funding schemes. This new option, called ‘Grants-as-a-Service', allows the Member States to leverage on the Innovation Fund's evaluation process and streamlined State aid approval process.
