On the 23rd of June, CiaoTech (PNO) participated in the Northern Lights Summit, a major European CCS event. Northern Lights (a joint venture between Equinor, TotalEnergies and Shell) is on its way to develop the first ever open-source CO2 transport and storage infrastructure, aiming at starting operations as early as 2024. It is promoter of the N-LiTES Project of Common interest (number 12.4 in the 5th Union list), gathering no less than 19 capture initiatives from several hard-to-abate emitting sectors from 6 EU Member States and Norway. Major stakeholders of the European CCS value chain participated in the discussions, sharing insights and knowledge on CO2 capture, cross border collaboration, and the role of CCS in meeting the ambitious Green Deal decarbonization goal. Northern Lights is one of the several large CCS infrastructure projects supported by PNO in acquiring public funding.
